DNCE 61 AFRICAN DANCE III1 Unit - 0.5 hour lecture, 1.5 hours lab Transfers: CSU, UC This course introduces the influence of African dance and music on the world through the African Diaspora. Students will study how the doctrine of Pan-Africanism is helping to shape the identity of contemporary Africans through dancing, drumming, singing and storytelling. The course explores the research and practices of performing African dances from the diaspora and its specific historical reference to representing the African community at large. All classes are aerobic in nature. Field trips may be required. NR
