Chris LC Lee Authorized Testing Center

The Chris LC Lee Authorized Testing Center provides online and paper testing services for a broad spectrum of secure testing needs as a certified testing center. Services include testing for online courses offered by many institutions throughout the nation, as well as online and paper testing for Irvine Valley College instructors and students, and for candidates from business, industry, and information technologies. The center offers certification testing in Microsoft Office, CCNA, MCSE, Cisco, CompTIA, Oracle, Novell, Symantec, Linux, A+, and other professional areas. The center provides a quiet, state-of-the-art testing environment. Further information is available at ivc.edu/testing-center.

College CorpsCollege Corps students

The #CaliforniansForAll College Corps program will help create debt-free pathways to college while engaging students across California in solving problems in their communities. Irvine Valley College is proud to be one of 45 new partner campuses for College Corps for this initiative. Over the next two years IVC will partner with Concordia University Irvine and Vanguard University in mobilizing students to engage in areas of K-12 Education, Food Insecurity, and Climate Action. 

Community Education

The Community Education department is the responsive unit at the college and provides a breadth of opportunity for learning, training, and enrichment. It offers fee-based, short-term, not-for-credit classes, workshops, career training programs, and events designed for professional and/or personal enrichment. Traditional in-person classes can be held at business, industry, and corporate sites, in addition to the main IVC campus location, in the evening or on weekends. Courses are offered three times per year, in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. During the summer, College for Kids offers academic and enrichment courses for students ages 5-18. Economic and Workforce Development

The Irvine Valley College Economic and Workforce Development department (IVC EWD) serves the purpose of collaborating with regional businesses by developing their employees’ skills and capabilities to better position businesses to meet their goals. IVC EWD provides regional businesses with tailored programs that offer affordable, convenient and responsive employee training solutions. Emeritus Institute: Classes for Older Adults, Community Members, and Lifelong Learners

The Emeritus Institute programs affirms the importance of intellectual activity, critical thinking, and creative expression for older adults. Courses are developed to stimulate participants’ intellectual and personal growth and to benefit their daily lives-personally, socially, culturally, economically, and environmentally. Emeritus classes are held at off-campus sites in Irvine, Tustin, Lake Forest, and Laguna Beach. Emeritus courses do not count toward degree or certificate requirements, nor do they carry transfer credit to colleges or universities. Courses are described in this catalog, and the registration process occurs three times per year, in the fall, spring, and summer semester. Brochures may be viewed online at ivc.edu/emeritus.

Guided Pathways

Guided Pathways is an equity framework that centers the student experience throughout the provision of services at IVC. For students, this means IVC will help them efficiently achieve learning goals. IVC is committed to the following:

  3. Providing support services that help students remain on their learning pathway.

Irvine Valley Promise Program

Irvine Valley Promise provides two years of free tuition for eligible first-time, full-time IVC students. Additionally, Irvine Valley Promise provides bookstore vouchers, designated counseling services, and other academic/career resources for Promise students to help them be successful in their first year and beyond.

The Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program offers a dedicated study center where students can engage in Academic Excellence Workshops, receive tutoring in essential STEM courses, meet with the MESA Counselor, and receive guidance and support to enhance their personal, academic, and professional development. Outreach and Community Relations

The Office of Outreach and Community Relations is dedicated to developing, coordinating, and providing outreach services to prospective students, parents, and community members. Its primary objective is to attract new students and inform the community about educational opportunities. Services include conducting campus tours, visiting high schools, delivering outreach presentations to students, parents, and community organizations, attending college fairs, and participating in various community events and programs.

Puente Program

The Puente Program is a transfer-focused support program with a focus on Latinx/Chicanx history and culture. The program consists of a linked learning community, designated counseling, and community mentorship. Students take English, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies courses throughout the course of a year. Participants also have the opportunity to go on field trips to 4-year universities, experience cultural excursions, and get involved in leadership opportunities on and off campus.

Student Ambassador Program

Since 2014, the Student Ambassador Program has aimed to establish a structured framework that helps students to acquaint themselves with the college, gain a working knowledge of the institution, and actively engage with and contribute to the college community. Ambassadors undergo training that familiarizes them with key stakeholders and offers valuable insights into the institution’s operations. IVC Student Ambassadors have become closely associated with the college, playing a role in building a strong sense of community.
