Enrollment Fee

An enrollment fee of $46 per unit is required of all students, with the following exemptions:

  • Concurrently enrolled high school students: 9th through 12th grade.
NOTE: Other fees are not waived through this program.
  • Students with the California College Promise Grant (CCPG), formerly known as the Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver. More information can be obtained through the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Students with the California Department of Veterans Affairs’ Waiver. More information can be obtained through the Veterans Services Center.
NOTE: The enrollment fee is set by the State Legislature. The college will make every effort to inform students if and when the fee changes.

Nonresident Student Fees

Nonresident student fee amounts are assessed in addition to the fees applicable to students who are residents of the State of California:

  • Tuition Fee: $376 per semester unit, required of all nonresident students.
Nonresident Tuition Fee Exemptions: The law exempts certain nonresidents from paying the nonresident tuition fee. More information can be obtained through the Office of Admissions and Records.
  • Capital Outlay Fee: $70 per unit, required of all nonresident students, in addition to the Tuition Fee.

Instructional Materials Fee

This fee is required of all students enrolled in certain courses.

Courses may carry a nominal fee for instructional materials provided to students throughout the semester.

Health Fee

The fee is $26 for the fall and spring semesters; $22 for the summer session. All students who enroll in at least one class offered on Saddleback College or Irvine Valley College (including ATEP) campuses or online will be required to pay a separate health fee to each college in which they are enrolled, with the following exemptions:

Per Administrative Regulation 5200 & EDC 76355, students who meet any of the following conditions:

  • Those who depend exclusively upon prayer for healing in accordance with the teachings of a bona fide religious sect, denomination, or organization. The student shall provide written verification of being an active member of such an organization.
  • Those who are part of a Board‐approved apprenticeship training program.
  • Those who have paid the fee at one college and enroll in only online courses at the other college

May request a refund or be exempted from paying the student health fee by completing the health exemption fee application.  Applications for the exemption fee can be obtained at the HWC or the Student Payment Center and must be submitted before the end of the first month of classes.

NOTE: Health fees are subject to change. More information regarding the health services the student is entitled to receive through the health fee program can be obtained by contacting the Health and Wellness Center @ (949) 451-5221.

Associated Students of Irvine Valley College (ASIVC) Access

ASIVC Access, which is $10 per semester, is an opt-out fee which provides no-cost entry to campus athletic events; discounted Regal Cinema, AMC Theatre, and theme park tickets; an opportunity to apply for the ASIVC scholarship awards; and many more benefits. More information can be obtained through the ASIVC Office.

Student Representation Fee

The $2 Student Representation Fee is an optional fee collected at the time of registration for each enrolled student and established by CA Education Code: 76060.5.

  • $1 will go to the ASIVC government to fund advocacy efforts for student leaders and student representatives to state their positions and viewpoints on behalf of Irvine Valley College students before city, county, district, state, and federal government, as well as other public agencies.

  • $1 will be expended to establish and support the operations of a statewide community college student organization, recognized by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, with effective student representation and participation in state-level community college shared governance and with governmental affairs representatives to advocate before the Legislature and other state and local governmental entities. Currently, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) serves in this capacity. SSCCC hosts a general assembly annually and is made up of ten regions with student representatives from all 115 community colleges in the state of California.

Transcript or Enrollment Verification Fee

Please see the Office of Admissions and Records for more information.

Returned Check Fee

A $20 fee will be assessed for each check dishonored by the bank for whatever reason.

NOTE: Once a check is submitted by a student, it is considered to be his or her enrollment confirmation. Placing a stop payment on a check does not in any way cancel the student’s financial obligation to the college, nor does it clear an enrollment record.

Refunds

Important: Students are eligible for a full refund of most fees, provided they have officially dropped or withdrawn from classes prior to the refund deadline, or their classes have been canceled by the college. The refund deadline, and all other pertinent dates for each respective class, can be viewed within the class details found in the online Class Schedule. Classes can be dropped through MySite or in person at the Office of Admissions and Records. Students may choose to leave a credit on the school account to cover future enrollment charges. There is no refund for classes added after the refund deadline date. Also, refunds are not available for any instructor drop that is initiated after the refund deadline.
