ECON 105 PERSONAL FINANCIAL PLANNING

3 Units - 3 hours lecture

Recommended Preparation: WR 1  and MATH 253 
This course covers the proper management of personal incomes and expenditures using criteria, methodology and resources for effective financial planning. Topics include the study of inflation and business cycles; career planning; money/credit management; insurance analysis; investment and retirement planning; and tax strategies. The course uses an integrative approach that focuses on practical financial decision making as well as the social, psychological and physiological contexts in which those decisions are made. Students will examine their relationship with money, set personal goals and develop a plan to meet those goals. ECON 105 is also listed as MGT 105 ; credit will be given in either area, not both.
