Energy Solar Photovoltaic System Technician, COA


This certificate of achievement is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills required to work as a technician for a Photovoltaic (PV) dealer, installer, or contractor. This program teaches students PV system wiring as per the National Electrical Code (NEC), system design criteria, installation methods, safety issues and OSHA considerations, maintenance practices through classroom study and laboratory applications. This certificate of achievement will be beneficial to individuals that plan on becoming employed in or currently work in the solar PV industry.
 

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Develop students’ ability to predict or calculate the behavior or performance of a specified electrical, residential or commercial wiring circuit or solar photovoltaic system.
  • Develop students’ ability to troubleshoot a given non-functioning piece of electrical equipment or residential wiring circuit or solar photovoltaic system and indicate the nature of the fault and remedy of the fault.
  • Develop students’ ability to use electrical wire, devices, equipment, tools, NEC code book, and blueprints to install and test an electrical project assigned by the instructor.
