Students majoring in accounting at Irvine Valley College focus on the principles and practices of accounting. The training they receive is intended to prepare them to make critical decisions based on data contained in various financial reports and statements. It also prepares them for accounting positions in the public and private sectors in such areas as service, merchandising, and manufacturing companies.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to apply theory, critical-thinking, and analytical skills to practical issues and problems that decision-makers in the field of accounting and business and management are likely to face.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify ethical issues in various business situations and articulate a thoughtful position in response to those issues.
