This Information Technology certificate introduces computers, networking, and cybersecurity skills and prepares students to enter the workforce as an entry-level information communications technologies professional (Computer User Support Specialist or Computer Network Support Specialist). The program is designed to meet the needs of students who want 1) to obtain entry level employment; 2) to advance in their current positions; or 3) to change careers. This program enables students to demonstrate specialization in areas such as computer technical support and networking. Successful completion of this program prepares students for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Exam (CIM 182, 283) and Cisco CyberOps Certification Exam (CIM 284).
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Apply fundamental knowledge of computing and the current use of technology techniques, skills, and tools necessary for the computing practice.
- Demonstrate the ability to locate, critically evaluate, and solve business problems with technology solutions using qualitative and quantitative information.
- Demonstrate a fundamental ability to identify and analyze user needs in the selection, creation, evaluation, and administration of computer-based systems.
- Provide information technology technical assistance to computer and network users.
- Demonstrate appreciation of the IT career field and the need to be lifelong learners.
