Accounting, AS


Students majoring in accounting at Irvine Valley College focus on the principles and practices of accounting. The training they receive is intended to prepare them to make critical decisions based on data contained in various financial reports and statements. It also prepares them for entry-level accounting positions in the public and private sectors in such areas as service, merchandising, and manufacturing companies or transferring. 

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare financial reports and financial statements in public and private sector accounting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise judgment, including ethical considerations, and use analytical techniques to make common business decisions.

Complete a minimum of three courses from the following:

To transfer:


Courses required for the associate degree major at IVC may not be the same as those required for the major at a four-year school.
