Art History for Transfer, AA-T

Students majoring in Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer (AA-T in Art History) are provided with a rigorous and rich foundation in the history of art, critically examining the importance of artistic traditions in the study of human cultures. Through a variety of historical periods, students learn to identify, analyze, and interpret works of art and architecture as they reflect not only individual achievement but also the political, social, religious, and economic interests of the society from which they emerge.

Pursuant to SB1440, section 66756, to earn an AA-T in Art History degree students must:

  • Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses.
  • Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0.
  • Minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major.
  • Completion of IGETC and/or CSU GE-Breadth.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Successfully complete objective glossary quizzes that evaluate his/her developed vocabulary maturation as it relates to the discipline of art history.
  • Define and articulate appropriate art historical terminologies that are utilized in the analyses of aesthetic works of art and architecture.
  • Demonstrate a rudimentary understanding of the technical processes involved in standard historical art making.
