Theatre Arts for Transfer, AA-T

This degree provides students with concise, broad based education in theater arts. Students receive instruction in the skills of the actor as well as the many behind the scenes disciplines such as lighting design, costume construction, directing, and stage management. Students in this program will have multiple opportunities to participate in theater department productions as a member of the cast or crew. All courses in this program are UC/CSU transferable.

Pursuant to SB1440, section 66756, to earn an AA-T in Theatre Arts degree students must:

  • Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses,
  • Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0,
  • Minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major, and
  • Completion of IGETC and/or CSU GE-Breadth.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Perform a role in a theatrical production
  • Construct theatrical elements
  • Manage a theatrical production
  • Apply the fundamentals of theatrical design
  • Analyze current practice in a historical and cultural context.

Required Core (9 units):

Introduction to Theatre (3 units) or Theatre History I (3 units)

Acting (3 units)
