Return to: Program, Degree and Certificate List
The proposed Associate in Arts in Geography for Transfer degree (AA-T in Geography) is designed to prepare students to transfer into the CSU system to complete a baccalaureate degree in Geography. Geography is the academic discipline which studies the earth and its people in their many mutual relationships and regional variations. Geography students examine a broad range of topics- from the physical nature of the earth’s surface and atmosphere to the varied human activities which interrelate with the physical environment and result in a distinct spatial imprint on the land. Upon completion of the Associate in Arts in Geography for Transfer, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of Earth’s complex physical landscape, human activities and how they shape each other at various scales over time. The use of the “Five Themes of Geography” provide students with a framework to study these diverse human and physical landscapes and processes. As a result of its interdisciplinary nature, geography is an outstanding discipline for students who wish to integrate the physical and social sciences.
