Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer, AA-T

The intent of this degree is to prepare students for career in teaching, particularly elementary teacher education. The program is designed for students who are planning to transfer to a California State University as Liberal Studies or Child and Adolescent majors. Courses consist of the elementary subject matter competence requirements as established by the California Teacher Credentialing Commission and would prepare students to take the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) of Multiple Subjects.

Pursuant to SB1440, section 66756, to earn an AA-T in Elementary Teacher Education degree students must:

  • Complete 60 semester or 90 quarter CSU transferable units.
  • Obtain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU transferable coursework.
  • Complete and obtain certification of the California State University General Education-Breadth pattern or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC for CSU) pattern.
  • Complete a minimum of 18 units in the major.
  • All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of C or Better (Title 5 § 55063).
