DNCE 61 PAN-AFRICAN DANCE/THE DIASPORA1 Unit - 0.5 hour lecture, 1.5 hours lab Transfers: CSU, UC This course introduces the influence of African dance and music on the world through the African Diaspora. Students will study how the doctrine of Pan-Africanism is helping to shape the identity of contemporary African through the dancing, drumming, singing and story-telling. The course explores the research and practices of performing African dances from the diaspora and it specific historical reference to representing the African community at large. All classes are aerobic in nature. Attendance at field trips may be required. NR
