WR 301 INTRODUCTION TO BASIC WRITING3 Units - 3 hours lecture Corequisite: WR 380 This is an introductory course designed to develop skills in the basic conventions of writing. Students employ a text-based, process-centered approach to writing to a variety of audiences and for a variety of purposes: to observe, to integrate, to communicate, and to convince. The course emphasizes paragraph unity, coherence, cohesion, and development, building towards writing a focused, organized, developed essay. The course further covers how to explore, evaluate, organize, and state and support ideas taking into consideration the writer’s audience and purpose. NR
