AESL 555 PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION FOR WORK, ACADEMIC, COMMUNITY

Recommended Preparation: Completion of Adult ESL Level 4, AESL 504 
This AESL course prepares advanced language learners for business, academic, and volunteer settings with its focus on U.S. workplace norms for effective language use and communication. Emphasis will be on learning essential business phrases/idioms as well as the appropriate tone, style, and grammar best suited for professional interactions, tasks, and presentations. Class activities include role-playing common workplace scenarios such as pitching ideas in meetings, answering impromptu questions, and reporting on facts, figures, and market trends. In addition, students will improve their skills for writing concise summaries and purposeful emails. This is a non-credit open-entry/open-exit course. R-E-99
