LIB 20H ADVANCED RESEARCH AND INFORMATION COMPETENCY

3 Units - 3 hours lecture

Limitation: Honors course
Students will learn to locate and retrieve high quality information resources that are relevant to a sustainable research topic of their choice. Students will learn how to use information ethically, with emphasis on their role as information creators, users and consumers. Students will examine contemporary issues in information literacy, including the value of information as a commodity, the contextual nature of authority, and the influence of information as a power structure. LIB 20H is an honors-only course without a non-honors equivalent. Students interested in taking a less rigorous option in library studies should consider LIB 10. NR
