ESL 301 ACADEMIC WRITING II FOR MULTILINGUAL WRITERS5 Units - 5 hours lecture Prerequisite: ESL 370 Corequisite: ESL 301L This is the second semester of the academic writing sequence designed for non-native English writers who need to gain a greater understanding of Academic English. Students write essays in response to assigned readings of college-level texts. The course covers how to develop a thesis statement, how to control the structure of an academic essay, and how to develop details of support through multiple drafts. It focuses on refining academic reading, writing, language, and critical thinking skills with an emphasis on the academic essay. Successful completion allows students to enroll in ESL 201 . NR
